What is Lunula?
The Lunula uses lasers that penetrate past the nail plate, allowing a greater flow of blood to the toes. This increased blood creates an increased immune response allowing tissue regeneration to begin, which destroys the fungus.
Whilst healing may occur from the start of your first treatment, there may be no noticeable difference in the appearance of the nails until several months post treatment.

Lunula Laser Treatment is a non-invasive, painless treatment for toenail fungus that uses low-level laser technology to target the fungus and promote healthy nail growth.
Surgical nail removal can be done in your podiatrist’s clinic. Your podiatrist will give you an injection in the affected toe to prevent pain. Then your doctor will use a tool to loosen the skin around the nail and separate the nail from the skin to gently remove the entire nail.
There is limited data on the safety of Lunula Laser Treatment during pregnancy, so it is not recommended for pregnant women.
The success rate of Lunula Laser Treatment is over 80% in improving the appearance of a mild or new toenail fungus. However, individual results may vary depending on the severity of the infection and the patient's overall health.
Several factors can impact the effectiveness of Lunula Laser Treatment, including the severity of the toenail fungus infection, poor overall health, and failure to follow the treatment plan.
Surgical removal of the infected nail prior to starting Lunula Laser Treatment can massively increase the effectiveness of the treatment and reduce the number of required number of laser treatments.
It is generally safe to have Lunula Laser Treatment if you have metal plates and pins in your foot. However, it is important to inform your podiatrist about any metal implants or other medical conditions you may have before starting treatment.

The Lunula Laser Treatment is not harmful to you in any way, as the device uses low power settings. No heat will be felt, unlike treatment with other lasers. Some people may feel a mild pins and needles sensation as the blood vessels dilate and the increased blood supply floods the area. However, the majority of patients feel nothing at all.
