Clearanail is a professional, effective and safe treatment designed to address fungal nail infections. It involves using a specialised device that creates micro-holes in the affected nail, allowing for better penetration of topical antifungal solutions. This method helps to accelerate the action of the antifungal treatment.
The Clearanail treatment effectively enhances the efficacy of a topical antifungal nail solution, making it an excellent option for infections of mild to moderase severity.
Clearanail Pro is almost 80% successful in treating common nail fungus. Results are usually visible in 2-8 weeks.
No, you usually won't feel anything, apart from a slight vibration, as the device is computer controlled to ensure that it never damages the delicate nail bed area.
The podiatrist will only need to make the holes once, possibly twice, if infection is severe, but you will need to be seen another few times to keep the nail thin and to ensure that the treatment is successful.
Aproximately 30 minutes to make the holes, depending on how many nails are affected. the nails will need to be thinned before drilling the holes, so in total aproximately 1 hour. The review appointments need to be 6-8 weeks apart and continued until clear.
Once the micro holes have been created in the affected nail using Clearanail, the antifungal solution is typically applied topically. The solution is typically in the form of a liquid and is carefully applied to the nail surface and the surrounding area, allowing it to penetrate through the micro-holes and reach the underlying fungal infection. The frequency and duration of application may vary depending on the specific instructions provided by the podiatrist administering the treatment. Usually applied once or twice a day.
Very Small. They are aproximately o.4mm in diameter, which is about the same as four human hairs.
It is generally recommended to avoid wearing nail polish after undergoing the Clearanail treatmen, as the presence of nail polish can hinder the effectiveness of the treatment. This is because the nail polish will create a barrier that prevents the antifungal solution from directly reaching the infected nail bed through the micro-holes.
Clearanail is considered a safe treatment with minimal side-effects, some patients may experience mild temporary sensitivity in the treated nails, but these effects are generally short lived and resolve quickly. It is always recommended to discuss any concerns or potential side-effects with the podiatrist.
Insurance coverage for Clearanail may vary depending on your insurance provider and policy. It is advisable to check with your health insurance company to determine if the treatment is covered, or if there are any specific requirements or restrictions.
If your particular nail infection is extensive or severe, or covers a large portion of the nail, in these cases the Clearanail may not be as effective , and alternative treatment options might be more suitable.
ingrown toenails or nail deformities will also need to be assessed by the podiatrist to determine whether the Clearanail is an appropriate treatment or not.
If there are open wounds, active infections or other skin conditions in the surrounding area of the affected nail, then the Clearanail treatment may need to be postponed until the area has healed.
Individuals with known allergies or sensitivities to the components of the Clearanail device, or to the recommended antifungal solution used in conjunction with the treatment should discuss this with the podiatrist, to determine the suitability of the treatment.
the safety and potential effects of Clearanail during pregnancy or whilst breastfeeding have not been extensively studied. It is therefore important to consult with the podiatrist for guidance In such cases.
