We hope you and your loved ones have been keeping safe and well during these unprecedented times. We are excited that due to the latest government advice we will be able to welcome you all back to our clinic.
We have spent this lockdown researching and making changes in our clinic to provide the safest care possible for our patients. Attending appointments may feel quite different to how it was before (unfortunately this means we won’t be able to offer you a cuppa on your arrival, but this is nothing personal)! But we are striving to maintain the excellent patient care that you have always received.
As a small clinic, we have a great podiatrist-patient relationship with you all, so we look forward to welcoming you all!
Pressing pause on routine chiropody
Unfortunately, we are putting a temporary pause on routine chiropody which includes: nail trims, corns, callus and cracked heels. Due to the reduced opening times, we are limiting treatment to verruca, warts and fungal nails.

Having tried nearly every treatment under the sun and at my wits end, I decided to explore Swift microwave treatment. I live in Nottingham and the nearest place for Swift microwave treatment was Pod Chiropody & Laser Clinic. I made an appointment for a consultation and was so impressed with Zoe Zavery and her practice I went ahead with the treatment. After only one treatment using Swift microwave my verruca has now gone. COVID-19 FAQ

Are you open?
Yes. Following the Prime Minister’s announcement on Monday 4th January about a national lockdown to be implemented from Wedneday 6th January, The College of Podiatry confirmed that all medical appointments are still allowed, therefore podiatry clinics can remain open. However due to government guidelines and to minimise risk for both our patients and staff, we are operating special opening hours.

Can my problem wait until all this is over?
If you feel anxious or uncomfortable about attending your appointment, you are welcome to discuss this with me. If you have a non-urgent problem, the appointment can be postponed. Perhaps a telephone appointment would be a useful alternative, along with sending some photos of your particular condition. Maybe reassurance about a specific aspect of what we are doing would help you feel more confident. This is a tricky time and you will never be pressured into something you are not comfortable with.

What precautions are you taking to make sure I'm safe?
There are perhaps too many to list. A few of the main precautions involve:
- Before your appointment you will be emailed & text a COVID-19 checklist, this is to ensure you have not been infected with the virus, this will be attached to your email and text confirmation and reminder and will need to be completed as close to your appointment as possible. If this form has not been completed then I am afraid your appointment will not be able to go ahead. Limiting the number of people in the clinic at one time, this means if you arrive early to your appointment, you will have to wait outside the clinic or in your car.
- Masks MUST be worn prior to entering the clinic, if you do not have one, you will be offered one by the clinic.
- The podiatrist will be wearing a disposable apron, face visor, disposable mask and gloves.
- Taking touchless temperature checks on patients arrival.
- Taking my temperature at the start of each day
- On arrival, patients will be asked to use the hand sanitiser provided & scan the QR code to inform NHS Test and Trace of your arrival at Pod Clinic.
- The podiatrist will wash, and sanitise hands between patients and disposable gloves will be replaced with each patient.
- Allowing longer gaps between patients to allow for deep cleaning and sanitisation of equipment, chairs, card machines, floor, and door handles.
- Offering telephone consultations where appropriate.
- Offering email photo check-ups where possible to avoid unnecessary visits.

What is your COVID care surcharge?
There are many measures to help keep you and the podiatrist safe in clinic, including additional gaps between each appointment for cleaning. To maintain a viable business, a COVID Care surcharge of £5 to each in-clinic appointment partially offsets some of these costs.

I have been in contact with someone suspected of having COVID-19, should I cancel?
Yes. Our policy follows the same strict government guidelines. We have a duty of care to all of our patients and must ensure that we are not putting them at risk. If you are concerned that you have symptoms, or have been in contact with someone who has had symptoms or has travelled outside of the UK in the last two weeks, please do not hesitate to cancel your appointment. Anyone who arrives at the appointment with symptoms/high temperature will kindly be asked to leave. You should then return home immediately and contact NHS 111, please do not travel anywhere else.

If I cancel my appointment because of COVID-19 symptoms, will I need to pay a cancellation fee?
While we usually have a 48 hour cancellation fee, this does NOT apply during this time. However, we do really appreciate patients letting us know as early as possible, as we are running limited appointments at the moment.

What happens when I arrive?
You will be asked to wait in your car or outside if you are early. Only enter the clinic at your appointment time. There is a gap between each appointment to allow for further decontamination and avoid patients crossing paths.
You'll be welcomed with a smile, although you won't see it under my mask! Your temperature will be checked on arrival, and if it is too high, we will wait five minutes, and then recheck it. If it is still too high, you will kindly be asked to leave.
When entering the clinic, you will be asked to sanitise your hands with the hand sanitiser provided and then encouraged to scan the QR code for NHS Test & Trace to register your arrival at the clinic, whilst this is not a legal requirement, it should be, we need to all work together to minimise the spread.
If you are not wearing a mask and gloves, we will ask you to wear one of ours.

Can I bring someone with me?
You must attend the appointment on your own, and other adults will need to wait in the car. Children will need to attend with one parent. We can only have one child and parent in the clinic at a time. Patients requiring a chaperone, assistance or translators are of course able to bring someone with them. If there are any exceptional circumstances, then it would be helpful to know this in advance so that we can advise appropriately.

Is it possible to catch COVID-19 in the clinic?
Yes, but it is unlikely. Despite significantly enhanced infection control procedures, it is still possible to catch COVID-19 while at Pod. You will be asked to consent to this risk. Podiatrists have always had very high standards of infection control. We use PPE following guidance from both Public Health England and the College of Podiatry. The podiatrist will check their temperature before they come into the clinic and would follow the government's guidance if they or anyone in their household had symptoms.
You will not cross paths with another patient as you will wait in your car until your appointment time. Patients are asked about their symptoms when they book and asked to cancel if they or anyone in their household develops symptoms. Every surface that patients are in contact with during appointments will have been decontaminated.

Why do you wear so much PPE?
Pod is following both Public Health England and the College of Podiatry's guidance. Our podiatrist already wears an apron, mask and gloves, but will be wearing a face visor for additional protection.

How do you treat me while adhering to the 2m social distancing rule?
We cannot, which is why our podiatrist has plenty of PPE to keep everyone safe. We also have a clear Perspex screen that is put in place to provide an additional protective barrier.

Should I wear a mask?
Yes. You can wear one of your own, or we can provide you with one.

Can I wear gloves?
Yes. Again, if you have gloves, you can wear them. Otherwise, I can provide you with some disposable ones. Gloves are essential for the podiatrist, but not a necessity for patients.

Can I use the lavatory?
Please plan to avoid using the lavatory if possible.

What happens if you or I come down with COVID-19 symptoms after the appointment?
Anyone with symptoms needs to arrange a test as soon as possible. If you are experiencing symptoms after your appointment, please get in touch with Pod to let us know.

What happens if I'm not happy about something?
Let us know. Perhaps we can explain something better, or you could have spotted something we haven't.
